Freeman Elementary

Congratulations to Ms. Scheuer for being named the Falcon of the Month for April. If you were to enter Ms. Scheuer’s second grade class, you would see business as usual as students are using every single minute to learn how to read or to learn how to solve important math problems that will help them have a firm foundation for learning.  Nearly eighty percent of Mrs. Scheuer’s students are reading on grade level, and are on grade level in math.  She uses research-based practices that yield above average results.  Ms. Scheuer is in her second year at Freeman Elementary School.   

 

Ms. Scheuer was born in Santa Rosa and then moved to Davis, California.  While growing up in Davis, she attended Pioneer Elementary School, Holmes Junior High and then Davis Senior High School.  When she was in 5th grade she knew she wanted to be a teacher.  Ms. Scheuer remarked, “I remember being in class and thinking, ‘I am going to write this lesson idea down and save it for when I am a teacher.’”  She was referring to a country project that she enjoyed as a student. One of her favorite teachers was Mrs. Waxman. “She was very passionate about poetry and creativity. She was very artistic.  She helped me find my creative side,” explained Ms. Scheuer.  

 

Upon graduating from high school Ms. Scheuer was accepted to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  “There is a lot of natural beauty there like the beach and beautiful hills to hike in,” stated Ms. Scheuer.  While in college she enjoyed learning from all of her professors. Some of her hobbies include, ZUMBA, dancing, hiking, running, and she even did a half marathon, “Mrs. Neilson talked me into it,” remembered Ms. Scheuer.  While in college Ms. Scheuer had the opportunity to study abroad to continue to learn Spanish.   She lived in Costa Rica, and went to school there.   “I met local families and I got to know two families really well.  They helped me to practice the Spanish I was studying every day in class,” explained Ms. Scheuer.    

 

Ms. Scheuer loves working at Freeman Elementary School. “I like the staff at Freeman. The climate is really nice.  The teachers help each other and everyone works very hard on behalf of our students,” mentioned Ms. Scheuer.   Ms. Scheuer has a message to students. “I’ve been telling my students to treat each other how they would like to be treated. Being respectful is very important. My biggest message to families is to take every opportunity to engage your children in learning. When they are curious about something, encourage them to try to figure out more about it. Take advantage of extra learning opportunities that the school and community offer, like science night and reading night. This will help them to become life-long learners.”  We are very happy with Ms. Scheuer’s efforts at our school.  Mrs. Sheuer will receive a $50 Visa gift card sponsored by Antonio Yepez from Keller Williams Reality. Felicitaciones a la Sra. Scheuer por ser nombrada el Falcon del mes de abril. Si entran en clase de segundo grado de la maestra Scheuer, mirarán como los estudiantes están utilizando cada minuto para aprender a leer o aprender cómo resolver importantes problemas de matemáticas que le ayudarán a tener una base firme para el aprendizaje. Casi el ochenta por ciento de los estudiantes de la Sra Scheuer está leyendo a nivel de grado, y están a nivel de grado en matemáticas. Ella utiliza las prácticas basadas en la investigación que produce apredizaje elevado. La Sra. Scheuer está en su segundo año en la Escuela Primaria de Freeman.

 

La Sra. Scheuer nació en Santa Rosa y luego se trasladó a Davis, California. Mientras crecía en Davis, asistió a la Escuela Primaria de Pioneer, Holmes Junior High School y luego la preparaatoria de Davis. Cuando estaba en quinto grado sabía que quería ser maestra. La Sra. Scheuer comentó: "Recuerdo que estaba en clase y pensaba, 'Voy a escribir esta idea de lección abajo y guardarlo para cuando yo soy una maestra." "Ella se refería a un proyecto de país que disfrutó como estudiante. Uno de sus profesores favoritos fue la Sra. Waxman. "Ella era muy apasionada por la poesía y la creatividad. Ella era muy artística. Ella me ayudó a encontrar mi lado creativo ", explicó la Sra Scheuer.

 

Después de graduarse de la escuela secundaria la Sra. Scheuer fue aceptada a la universidad de Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. "Hay una gran cantidad de belleza natural allí como la playa y hermosas colinas de caminar," declaró la Sra Scheuer. Mientras que en la universidad que le gustaba aprender de todos sus profesores. Algunas de sus aficiones incluyen, zumba, baile, caminatas, correr, e incluso se hizo una media maratón, "la señora Neilson me convenció ", recordó la Sra Scheuer.

 

Mientras que estaba la maestra en la universidad tuvo la oportunidad de estudiar en Costa Rica para seguir aprendiendo español. Ella vivió en Costa Rica, y fue a la escuela. "Me encontré con familias locales y llegué a conocer dos familias muy bien. Me ayudaron a practicar el español que estaba estudiando todos los días en clase ", explicó la Sra Scheuer.

 

La Sra. Scheuer le encanta trabajar en la Escuela Primaria de Freeman. "Me gusta el personal de Freeman. El clima es muy agradable. Los maestros se ayudanuno al otro y todo el mundo trabaja muy duro en nombre de nuestros estudiantes ", mencionó la Sra Scheuer.

 

La Sra. Scheuer tiene un mensaje para los estudiantes. "He estado diciendo a mis estudiantes que traten a los demás como les gustaría ser tratados. Ser respetuoso es muy importante. Mi mayor mensaje a las familias es tomar todas las oportunidades para involucrar a sus hijos en el aprendizaje. Cuando están curiosos por algo, animenlos a tratar de averiguar más sobre él tema. Aprovechen las oportunidades de aprendizaje adicionales que se ofrecen en la escuela y la comunidad, como la noche la ciencia y la noche de lectura. Esto ayudará a que se conviertan en aprendices de por vida. "Estamos muy contentos con los esfuerzos de la Sra.
