Ms. Horsky
Ms. Horsky is a dynamic teacher who takes a lot of pride in ensuring that her students experience academic success. She grew up in the River Delta near Isleton. Many people may not know some of her hobbies. Her hobbies include planting fruit orchards, hiking, biking, and gardening. “I was a master gardener for a couple of years,” commented Ms. Horsky.
When asked about places that she has traveled to she stated, “My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary and we went deep-sea fishing in Alaska.” If you ever wondered what it would be like to go to Alaska ask Ms. Horsky. I bet it is freezing cold! She continued, “I would love to visit the Czech Republic, Serbia, Croatia, and check out those areas.” When she isn’t busy traveling or teaching Ms. Horsky is busy reading. Her favorite books are mystery and spy thrillers.
Ms. Horsky has two daughters. Cassie is 29 and graduated from UC Davis, and Cara ,her youngest daughter, is 24 and she is a farmer and works on the family farm. Hank, their Chocolate Labrador Retriever, is a year and a half old. When her daughters were in elementary school she began volunteering in their classrooms, and that’s when she knew that she wanted to become a teacher.
When asked about her 13 years working at Freeman Mrs. Horsky responded, “I feel very fortunate to be here at Freeman. I feel the excitement and growth. I like it when parents come in and ask how their children are doing. It’s been really exciting. Everyone works really really hard. Our community takes a lot of pride in our achievement.”
Her biggest message to students is, “Be willing to take a risk and give something a try that is hard. It’s ok if you don’t make it the first time.” When you see Ms. Horsky please congratulate her for being the Falcon of the Month for January! We are lucky to have her here at Freeman Elementary School.
