Ms. Gustafson
Meet Ms. Gustafson or as her students call her Ms. G. Ms. Gustafson teaches third grade at Freeman Elementary school and grew up in Gordon Valley which is close to Fairfield. As a child she attended many different schools. She loves the country life but her family soon moved into town. When children move schools often it may be detrimental to their learning, but Ms. Gustafson succeeded in overcoming this obstacle.
Her favorite teacher, Mr. Rogers, helped her feel successful at school. “He was my English teacher and our project for the year was to transcribe a book. Our goal was to learn about indentation and punctuation so I transcribed the book Black Beauty,” remembered Ms. Gustafson. She loves the Harry Potter books and has read the whole series.
Some of her hobbies include running, and playing with her 2 cats (Samie and Bella). Ms. Gustafson is always thinking of helping others. She stated, “I love to run. I am part of an organization of people who are raising funds for cancer patients.” Ms. G. raises funds by running and is always looking for pledges from the community to help with this great cause.
Ms. Gustafson didn’t always know that she wanted to be a teacher. “I didn’t know I wanted to be a teacher until I went to college. I tutored students and realized I was really good at explaining things. I started substitute teaching and had some wonderful experiences. I taught a Spanish class at a high school and I realized how much fun teaching was,” said Ms. G. Soon after, she started teaching at Willow Spring Elementary, before coming to Freeman.
Ms. G. continued, “The best thing about working at Freeman, are the people. I love working with my co-teacher, Mrs. Meyer. We are great collaborators together. My biggest message to students is to set goals and achieve them. For example, I am a runner. I am not the fastest runner, but every time I go out and run a race I try to beat my previous time. I want to move up and build on my past successes and that’s what I want for my students.” This year students are meeting their goals and achieving them and feeling excited. She loves seeing that big huge grin from ear to ear when they feel successful. That’s why she became a teacher. Please congratulate Ms. Gustafson for being the Falcon of the Month.

Conozcan a la Sra. Gustafson o como la llaman sus alumnos Sra. G. La Sra. Gustafson enseña tercer grado en la Escuela Primaria de Freeman y creció en el Valle de Gordon que está cerca de Fairfield. De niña asistió a diferentes escuelas . Le encanta la vida del rancho, pero su familia pronto se trasladó a la ciudad. Algunos de sus pasatiempos incluyen correr, y jugar con sus 2 gatos ( Sammy y Bella) . La Sra. Gustafson siempre está pensando en ayudar a los demás . Ella dijo: " Me encanta correr . Yo soy parte de una organización de personas que tratán de recaudar fondos para los pacientes de cáncer . " La Sra. G. recauda fondos mediante la ejecución y siempre está en busca de promesas de la comunidad para ayudar a esta gran causa .
La Sra. Gustafson no siempre supo que quería ser maestra. "Yo no sabía que quería ser maestra hasta que fui a la universidad. Yo fui una tutora de estudiantes y me di cuenta que era realmente buena en explicar las cosas. Empecé como profesor sustituto y tenía algunas experiencias maravillosas . Enseñé una clase de español en una escuela secundaria y me di cuenta de lo divertido que era " , dijo la Sra. G. Poco después de esta experiencia ella comenzó a enseñar en la escuela primaria de Willow Spring , antes de venir a la escuela primaria de Freeman.
La Sra. G. continuó: " Lo mejor de trabajar en Freeman, son las personas . Me encanta trabajar con mis compañeros y maestros como la maestra, Mrs. Meyer. Somos grandes colaboradores juntos. Mi mensaje principal a los estudiantes es establecer metas y alcanzarlas. Por ejemplo, yo soy una corredora. Yo no soy la corredora más rápida, pero cada vez que salgo y corro una carrera trato de superar mi tiempo anterior. Quiero subir y construir sobre mis éxitos del pasado y eso es lo que quiero para mis estudiantes. " Este año los estudiantes están cumpliendo con sus metas se sienten emocionados. Le encanta ver a una gran sonrisa de oreja a oreja cuando se sienten exitosos. Es por eso que se convirtió en un maestra. Por favor, feliciten a la Sra. Gustafson por ser el Falcon del Mes .
